Safeguarding
Safeguarding children and protecting them from harm is everyone's responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with the children and families has a role to play in keeping them safe.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is:
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as problems arrive
- Preventing impairment of children's mental and physical health or development
- Protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
