KS1 Renewable Energy afternoon
KS1 enjoyed learning all about the need to find renewable sources of energy during an exciting afternoon of hands on science.
Our visitors added some carbon dioxide to water to show us what is happening to sea water because we are burning fossil fuels to make our electricity.
We made bracelets with beads that absorbed light from the sun to help us to understand solar power. Special torches made the beads change colour. At playtime the beads changed colour again in the sunlight.
We generated electricity by winding a handle as fast as we could to help us understand how wind turbines work.
Watch them go!
Great excitement when we attached the battery packs to some model cars and watched them go - complete with working headlights!
