Year 5 and 6 were very excited to take part in a Chocolate workshop linking to their learning about the Mayans. Did you know that the Mayans believed that chocolate was a gift from the gods? During the workshop the children learnt how chocolate is made, the history of cacao and chocolate, Mayan history and traditions. Everyone had the chance to handle and twist open real cacao beans and grind them up to make chocolate just like the Mayans. We then enjoyed completing a taste test of different chocolate to identify the ingredients and origin. If you want to know more just ask Year 5/6! They had a great time!
