Our Year 5 cohort took to Cleethorpes beach on Monday 19th June 2023 to complete a beach clean alongisde Zoe Birkill (from Cleethorpes Beachcare Group). As part of their Young Leaders Award, the children completed a 'Community Project' to help make a positive difference in their local community. After completing their local community walk the previous week, the children discovered that litter was a huge problem in the local area and so decided that a community litter pick at our local beach would be a great way to start helping the local community. 

At first it appeared that there was not a lot of litter due to the local council clear up post Armed Forces Weekend however, they soon discovered that there was a range of litter in lots of hidden locations across the beach and in the marshes. Many of the children got rather competitive whilst collecting the litter and were even complimented by members of the public who stated, 'Keep it up lads!' or 'WOW! What a credit you are to your school.' 

The children were fantastic and attached is a comment that Zoe Birkill shared on social media about the morning with our children.
