'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me'

On Friday 7th October 2022, we held a Vision and Values day. It was a fun filled day with lots of different activities to further support us in understanding the theological underpinning of both our Vision and associated Christian Values.

Activities throughout the day included role play acting out of our values, creating 'wordles' and designing a new display for our values, including pictures from Bible stories and accompanying scripture.

There was also an opportunity to join up with a different class to support each other in creating Godly Play Boxes. Each one was linked to a bible story that depicts our values. We made role play characters and backgrounds to retell the story, wrote prayers and decorated the boxes. We're sure children will enjoy retelling bible stories with these throughout the year!

An exciting new resource called 'Picture News' supported us in seeing that there are opportunities all around the world for us to live out our Christian Vision through social action - making a difference in the lives of others. We heard about the devestating floods currently affecting Pakistan, talked about how this news made us feel and discussed ways in which we could help. Many children have created prayers and posters to raise awareness and some generous children have donated money, food and clothing packages.

To end the day, we all gathered into the hall to share all of the exciting things we had acheived throughout the day with the rest our school family. Then it was time to announce the winner of the 'Create a School Prayer' competition, chosen by members of the Collective Worship Council.
