Tuesday 28th June 2022 marked a very special occasion for our school, seeing it celebrate the 50th Anniversary of being open. As the school was officially opened in 1972, we celebrated the day in style with a 70s theme. It was lovely to see all of the children and staff embrace the fashions and come dressed in flares, platforms, tie-dye and flower power costumes to name a few. The children spent the morning in class learning about the 1970s. We then joined together to create and bury a time capsule, which represented our school in the year 2022. The time capsule was designed to be opened on the school's 100th Anniversary in the year 2072. The children enjoyed making many predictions about what schools will be like in 50 years' time. 

Each pupil designed their own personal pebble, which will surround the time capsule in a crossed keys shape to represent our school logo. 

Fun continued into the afternoon with a whole school picnic on the field and a showcase of the school's history in the school hall. We finished the day with a fayre on the field. Families enjoyed playing traditional games such as 'Hook a Duck', 'Tin Can Alley', Tombola, skittles, space hoppers and 'bean bag toss'. Another highlight was playing 'Beat the Goalie' with special thanks to James McKeown from Grimsby Town who gave the children a run for their money! We had ice-creams galore and the children were able to purchase a commemorative tea towel, illustrated with the children's own drawings of each child and staff member in school. 

Each pupil left school with a special cake and pen to mark the occasion and the chance to order a copy of our whole school aerial photograph. 

Thank you to all parents for providing your child's costumes for the day and for your generosity at the fayre. All proceeds from the games and Tombola have been donated to the Ukraine DEC fund and we are very pleased to say in total, we have raised £672. 

We would also like to thank all of the companies who donated many prizes for this good cause.
