Challenge

Our challenge was to design and make a survival kit to deliver eggs safely. In order to be successful we had to work collaboratively in a team to make an egg survive a drop of three metres.

Prediction

To make our investigation a fair test we controlled the variables, we collected the same resources: 1 black bin liner, 2 metres of sring and cello-tape, 3 shets of newspaper, 1 card egg case, 1 paper towel and 1 space egg. Once we had made our survival kits, we assessed each others and made predicions based on our scientific knowledge and understanding.

                              Results

Only one of our eggs landed safely.

Conclusion

We found out that the survival kit with the largest surface area (parachute) trapped more air. Therefore, there was more air resistance pushing against the black bag which opened fully to act against gravity, slowing the egg down.
