Our Positive Behaviour
In order to become a responsible citizen and a respectful member of the Modern British community, we believe children need to begin learning from an early age how to manage their feelings and behaviour effectively.
To support the children with this, we have a behaviour policy which highly values intrinsic praise.
The reward systems we have in place at school encourage the children to pull together as part of a team.
Each class has an abacus on which to collect 'polite points' Once the abacus has been filled an agreed amount of times, the class will receive a treat chosen by the children such as a baking afternoon or a talent show.
Each class and midday supervisor has 5 terrific tickets to give out on a daily basis to children who are just terrific! These are collected in each term. A winner is selected at random for each class and then a whole school winner is selected.
Many of our positive influences on behaviour are daily acts of praise and support and whilst walking around school you may see children celebrating their own successes with a 'whoosh' or class celebration.
I am Proud
Each child has their own 'I am proud' book in which they can write any achievements that they are proud of ready to share in celebration worship. The children are encouraged to independently reflect and write in this book as often as they wish.
Each Friday, we have a celebration worship where parents are invited to share in their child's achievements. One child per class is awarded the star of the week and another will explain what they have been proud of throughout the week. During this time, we celebrate group and individual achievements outside of school and the children write about their achievements in our newsletters.
Attendance, Mental Maths and Spelling Awards
We have class competitions for the highest percentage of attendance and correct answers in our spelling and mental math's tests. The results are announced in the celebration worship and the winning classes receive a certificate to display.
